• From launch, the secondgeneration Corvette Sting Ray of 196367 marked a massive leap forward in many respects. A Road & Track magazine retrospective article published in 1975 described it as an “…engineering tour de force,” going on to praise the relentless engineering improvements applied to the Corvette by Zora ArkusDuntov, “Godfather of the Corvette,” and his engineers. In addition to its sleek and futuristic new body design, arising from early sketches by Peter Brock and guided to production by Larry Shinoda in collaboration with GM Design Chief Bill Mitchell, the Corvette Sting Ray delivered worldbeating performance throughout its run to match its aggressive good looks.
